Negative usually means bad things. I don't think people feel very positive with a negative result.
Today negative is a wonderful thing. My friend Renee had her double mastectomy today. They did the lymph node test for cancer. The test came back "negative." She was able to have reconstructive surgery immediately and she now has a four- to six-week recovery process ahead of her. She won't be allowed to use her pectoral muscles and therefore can't lift anything over 5 pounds. She won't be able to wash her own hair. But at least she does not have to undergo chemo or radiation and then another surgery for reconstruction later.
I am so thankful for a negative result on Renee's node test.
